One of the major issues of children with autism is their inability to behave properly. Behavioral therapists carefully assesses, behavioral issues of children and implements a Therapeutic teaching strategy, based on the potential of each children. Behavioral therapist’s aim is to nullify faulty behavior in autistic children, and encourage exemplary behavior. Behavioral therapy is not only limited to correct the behavioral issues of children, but also, plays and important role in improving psychological and social betterment of autistic children.
Most of the autistic children lacks the ability to do activities in a perfect sequential order. Constant and systematic, constructive activity training is necessary for autistic children, to boost their intellectual ability, related to ‘what to do next in a perfect order’. Lot of dexterity skills of hands, can also be improved through giving perfect Occupational Therapy. Our Occupational Therapy department will provide a perfect blend of Constructive Learning, Dexterity Skills Training, Sensory Integration and Relaxation to autistic children.
There is no better way for children to get relaxed, other than playing in water. It is not only a mode of fun, but also a great way to express their happiness, and conquer their fear of water, and improve their life skills such as swimming. Aqua therapy has also some physical effects such as improving muscle strength, (especially core muscle strength), correcting posture, and relaxing muscle and joints. A lot of activities can be given during aqua therapy sessions, which can enhance individual and group skills of autistic children.
There are 7 senses in human body namely; (1) Sight , (2) Smell; (3) Taste; (4) Hearing ; (5) Touch; (6) Vestibule (Balance), and (7) Proprioception (Joint Sense).In most of the autistic children, these senses may be altered; i.e. either aggravated or diminished. Our Sensory Integration Therapy provides the best remedy for children with sensory issues, to correct their sensory imbalances.
We believe that, there is no better way for children to get united, other than any kinds of plays, that they like. We have designed different modes of play therapies, that all of our children can participate. Most of our Play Therapy sessions happens outside the classrooms, in our campus, if weather permits. Play therapy sessions are very important to boost confidence and enhance communication skills in children.
Music has the ability to bring autistic children together. We consider Music as a medicine that has unparalleled effects in our children; like induce relaxation, create a sense of happiness, make their depressed mood to a better one, and achieve some confidence and belief in themselves. We will be having vocal and instrumental music training for our children, that can bring dramatic changes in our students.
In most of the autistic children, speech is affected partially or completely. Regular training is necessary to improve the speech of the affected children. Our speech therapists does not confine to conventional teaching methods, but looks beyond the classrooms spaces, and gets children to the nature, to bring maximum speech output in children
Yoga is originated in ancient India, which improves mental and physical health of all people, if practiced in the right way. Yoga can be beneficial in autistic children, like reducing hyperactivity and improving attention. Yoga can also be useful in improving right posture in students.
Our group Therapy classes are designed to build up a good peer group relationship among students. It creates a sense of sharing, working together in groups, curiosity, sequential training, and improves communication among students.
Functional, Self Help Skills
One of our major concerns about our students, is to achieve them an optimal level of capacity and skills, to live with minimal assistance from others. In other words, we want our children to achieve maximum independency in day to day tasks necessary for living, which is not only restricted to achieving independency in ADL, but also things like dealing with money, shopping, travelling, doing works and jobs etc. Our aim is to make these children potent of doing whatever activities common people do in this world, which can be achieved by a combination of good therapeutic training and socialization training.
One may feel likes Physiotherapy is not a must to autistic children. But in reality, it is noted that, most of the autistic children have either minor or major physical inabilities or deformities, compared to normal children. Unfortunately, most of these deficits and deformities are progressive by age, which will get worse if left untreated. That is why Physiotherapy is indispensable in autistic children, not only to cure their ailments, but also to keep them healthy.
